Anirud was 6 years old when his father realized that he was quite sharp tactfully and has a natural thought line in strategies. They were in US and started training him but that was only for a brief period of less than an year. Although he showed quite an interest in Chess but due to their  job commitments and move to Canada it was not until he turned 11 a full-fledged training was possible. His Father Shiva, attained an MBA Degree through a sports quota having represented the state of Andhra Pradesh, India in Chess and having a successful career prompted him  to drive his son Anirud into Chess.

Anirud was a quick learner and his understanding of Chess was quite unique. There was many an instance where he surprised all with varied moves and brilliant thinking. He enjoys playing other sports like Football, Basket Ball, Table Tennis, etc. He has great passion to protect the environment, Nature, endangered species and has vast knowledge of habitats of various animals living and extinct.

Anirud is 15 years of Age studying in 9th grade at Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School is doing well academically and received the below achievements in Chess

2019 Oct : Biggest Achievement of his career lifting the MCC Championship Crown. This is an Annual Championship by MCC for the last 50 years with the names of the Winner being engraved on the Trophy. Anirud being the 14th seed with 4 players above 2000 rating, was able to lift the coveted Trophy
